Mrs. Mary E. Long, mother of Arthur M. Long, 401 Tenth street, died at the home of her son here last Saturday at the age of 79 years. Mrs. Long had been failing in health since August.

A pioneer resident of Illinois, Mrs. Long was born in Rockford. Two years ago she came to Wilmette to live with her son. Prior to that time she had lived in Chicago since 1884. Her husband died thirty years ago.

Mrs. Long was a member of the Wilmette Parish Methodist Episcopal church and for many years she had been an active church worker. She was president of the Northwest District Women's Foreign Mission society of the Methodist church for eighteen years. When she resigned the presidency the society founded a scholarship in her name at a school in India.

Dr. Horace G. Smith, pastor of the Wilmette Parish Methodist church, conducted the funeral services which were held in the Rosehill cemetery chapel Monday afternoon.
