- Swindlers of all descriptions are operating on the North Shore. Professor William H. Coghill, 813 Garfield place, professor of mining in Northwestern University fell for a scam by a man who said he was friends with some of the professor's college buddies. Professor Coghill believed him and gave him a loan. The same man then went to the home of D. R. Furniss, 1831 Hinman avenue, where he tried to get them to finance a bogus college scholarship. Furniss was not deceived.
