- A joint commission appointed by the United States and Canadian governments was formed in 1909 to locate and mark the boundary line separating the British territory from Alaska. Part of the survey is expected to be completed this year. The commission has asked the Candian and United States' geological surveys to assist. Canadian geologists are examining the south section of the boundary area and United States geologists are examining the northern section.
