West Wilmette Library Plan Taking Shape

Plans for the establishment of a nursery school and a branch library in the old Gross Point school building on Wilmette avenue west of Ridge road are under way, and a card party to raise funds to make necessary repairs on the school building will be held at the Woman's Club of Wilmette on Tuesday afternoon, March 12, at 2 o'clock, it was announced this week.
Cooperating in the combined nursery school and branch library project are the Library board, the parent-teacher associations of the public and parochial schools in the Village, the school board, the Woman's club, the Woman's Catholic club and business men of the Village.
For several years the library board has had on its program for the future a branch library in the Gross POint section of Wilmette. The t ime for pushing such a [project has arrived, members of the boarfd believe.

Federal Government to Help
The federal government is willing to finance teh proposed nursery school, if quarters for the school are furnished. Immediate action is necessary to obtain federal assistance, it is pointed out.
Since the completion of th e new Highcrest school building and the annexation of the territory served by this school to the Wilemte School district the building which formerly housed the old Gross Point school has not been used. This building, it is explained, could easily be converted into both a branch library and a nursery school. The plan is to use the first floor for the nursery school and the second floor for the library.

Committee Plan Card Party
Mrs. George Quinlan and Mrs. Theodore Barrett have charge of seating and other arrangements for the card party. Mrs. H. E. Ringholm is chairman of the refreshments committee, and Mrs. Rollo Gullickson has charge of prizes. Heading the committee which is boosting the sale of tickets is Miss Anne L. Whitmack, Wilmette librarian.
