- Miss Joan Allen was killed when the Douglas airliner on which she was a passenger crashed near Oklahoma City early Sunday Morning. A nurse, Miss Allen was en route to Fort Worth, where she was to join Mrs. Harry M. Giles of Wilmette who has become ill while away from home. She had only recently attended the late Mr. Giles who died February 24. Before her departure Saturday she left a note addressed to her close friends, the W. D. Bankers of South Bend, giving a few directions in case of an accident. Her older brother, William Allen, arrived yesterday from Edmonton, Alberta, her birthplace, to attend the funeral service. Also surviving are two other brothers, James and Hugh, and two sisters, Martha and Elizabeth. Funeral services were conducted on Thursday morning at St. Mark's church by the Rev. Frank L. Carruthers.
