- Richard Kinney, 55, president of the Hadley School for the Blind in Winnetka, died Feb. 19 in Evanston Hospital. Mr. Kinney was the husband of late Evelyn Kinney, a blind high school French teacher whom he had met at Hadley. She died in 1965. He was a native of East Sparta, Ohio. He became blind as a result of an illness at the age of 7. He was 20 and a sophomore at Mount Union College in Alliance, Ohio, when he became deaf. He was the third known blind-deaf person to earn a college degree, another was Helen Keller, whom he was to meet. He is survived by a son, Clark, 15, of Winnetka; his mother, Hope E. of East Sparta,; and a sister, Rosemary Kinney Hartup of St. Paul, Minn.
