Signal Corps Aviation School Chanute Field Rantoul, Illinois From: Corporal H. D. Hill, Signal Corps TO: Women's Corp. Wilmette Red Cross Subject: Acknowledgement I wish to express my appreciation of the sweater and wristlets which have reached me from my mother, Mrs. Leroy Hill, 1520 Walnut Ave., Wilmette. They certainly help out wonderfully this kind of weather, especially in the early mornings and evenings (for we have reveille pretty early). Our winter outfits haven't arrived at this school, although we are expecting them everyday, and every available Army overcoat is in use. The government is more particular about equipping the boys who are being called "overseas" as they call it, and we who are left behind have to be patient. The Squadron I am in has been called, but I have been picked out to stay here for the present. Eugene Jones, one of our Wilmette boys, has graduated from here and left, and I'm expecting, or hoping, that "Bill" [William] Rich, another Wilmettite, will soon be here after his preliminary work at the ground school in Champaign. Thanking you again for the sweater and wristlets, I am sincerely, H. D. Hill
