- File drawer containing multiple folders and files relating to the Harmony Convention in Wilmette. Contents include newspaper clippings, reports, correspondence, and more.
The Harmony Convention was established in 1932 and convened every two years to nominate officials of the Village of Wilmette, the Park Board, and the Library Board. Civic organizations were asked to send two representatives each to the Creative Committee. This Creative Committee then selects four delegates and one alternative from each of the precincts of the Village. The delegates usually served for two terms.
The Harmony Convention papers consist of one file drawer and contain the following:
- Ballots, 1948: Ballot and sample tally sheet for election on 2 Nov. 1948.
- Biographies, 1949-1969: Biographies and credentials of nominees in 1949, 1957, 1959, 1961, and 1969; also list of nominees not elected in 1957.
- Correspondence, 1949-1963: Envelopes and memos 1949, letters from civic groups asking to send representatives to the Harmony Convention 1949, general correspondence 1951, 1953, 1957, 1959, 1961, and 1963.
- Elections, 1949: Election judges and precinct captains, 1949.
