The story is an amusing one, filled with action and surprises. The lead- ing character is Ambrose Applejohn, a middle-aged English bachelor, who in the midst of a peaceful and-well- ordered life, suddenly decides that he craves adventure. No sooner. does he make bis wish known than he is plunged into adventures of the Most violent sort. Piracy, a secret cupboard, villainous spies and an alluring Russian dancer ail form a part of the amazing series of circumstances on-which he is em- barked. When the "smoke clears" Ambrose 's craving for adventure is amply satisfied and he fi nds in bis simple life and bis lovely Young ward everything that he, wants. Two Casts Two casts have been selcCtC(1 to present the play, one on each night. The leading parts are handled by some of the school's best draniatic talent. Lewis Rock and Walter Jen- sen give amusing portrayals of Amn- brose Applejack. Ben Pillis-and 'Ned Rosenheim are polished villains. .Pengard, the London criminal. is. played by Alan Cameron and Charles Broad. Betty Burlingham and Julia Carrol. portray Poppy, the quaint ward of Ambrose Applejohn, while Jayne Henderson and Virginia Tay- lor appear as the alluring adventuress. The play is being directed by Miss Elisabeth Stanwood, head of the New Trier dramatic department,,and Gor- ton VanKirk, who have directed most of.the successful New Trier plays in the past. CCC Workers WilI Give Benefit Entertainment Camp Skokie Valley CCC workers, comprising the players who thrilled World's fair audiences with the pres- entation of their "Skokie Varieties," will repeat this popular play at the Jane Kuppenheimer hall, Skokîe school, Winnetka, Tuesday evening, November 20. The boys are now engaged in or- ganizing a forty-piece band and many instruments are needed to carry out their plans. The proceeds fromn this show are to be used for buying.these instruments and Winnetka, whole- heartedly, is..behind the movement to make it a success. The project is being sponsored by the Winnetka Chamber of Commerce, Winnetka Post No. 10, Americani Legion, the Winnetka Women's club, the Lions club, Community House and.the Winnetka Public schools.
