November 1, 1934 WILMETTE LiPE Get Candidates' Rebly to Queries Made by League The Wilmette League. for Defense of ConstitutionalI Government, recent- lv submitted ta republican and demo- cratic candidates for various offices at the November 6 election, a ques- tioninaire comprising a series of twenty questions on issues considered hy it to be paramount in the -minds of the voters. The stated object of the question- iaire was to secure, in advance of the election, definite state ments of prin- ciffle by the candidates, tao-the end that voters might know what atti- tudel they could be- expected to- take on issues vitally, affecting the future of free American institutions. .'The legislative record of the pres- enit national administration," said a league officiai, "is, not such as to give .a scuse of security to those who stili helieve that our constitutional gov- errnment is the best, indeed the onix forni of government that insures free institutions and personal liberty. We therefore think it is eminently fair to require candidates to avow themselves on issues directly pertaining to con- stituitional observance." During the time the court of honor had its meeting, we learnie( a mountain folkdance to the tunîe of "She'1l Be Commii' Round the MNountain." Then wve went ta our patrol corners to discuss a treasure box inside which we expect to keep aIl our books and pencils. Each patrol is supplying its own box. The patrol leaders received a paper on which were printed sev- eral questions about nature, The En- deavor'patrol had the most answers correct. We had our, good-night circle at which the Shooting Star patrol for the first time brougbt forth its new, flag, made by, Marjorie Meyer.
