The league recently submitted to ecandidates for county, state and na- -tional offices in the November 6 elec- lion a questionnaire asking for a -definite statenient of position by these candidates on twventy propositions. The purpose of the meeting Monday nighit is to consider the replies to iis questionnaire., Question 34 Candidates In a letter addressed to- eachi of -thirty-four candidates, the league --aid: "This league deems it imperative. if sane government is to prevail, that more emphasis be placed 'on an in- telligent understanding by the elec- torate of the principles for which candidates for office stand. "There is enclosed a questionnaire constituting a series of clear cut -uestions on paramount issues, theè -miajority of which can be answered categorically, 'and we feel that the answer5 will give to the, voter a 'definite basis for analysis of can- 'didates. Firemen'Answer Six Alarms Within Week The Wilmette Fire department rnade six runs in the week ending Tuesday, October 23. Two of the runs were to extinguish automobile ires, one at 2931 Lake avenue and -the other at 1344 Greenwood avenue. These two blazes rebulted in only slight damage. Sunday morning about 5 o'clock the lfiremen were called to the Ridge Bak- ing company, Inc., 421 Ridge road. The damage from the fire there was slight also A run was made last Friday to 1220 Maple avenu~e to extinguish a bush fire.,. On Wednesday of last week a fence fire occurred at 414 Laurel ave- nue, and the, firemen were called. The same day fire in a private garage at 1.10 Broadway caused slight dam- age.
