John P. Steffens, 80, formerly of Wilmette, died Apr. 24 in Laguna Beach, Cal. Mr. Steffens a member of the Wilmette American Legion, the Knights of Columbus and St. Joseph's Church, was a former mail man. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Robert McMurray of California and Mrs. Leone Marinella of Ohio; four sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Heltmann, Mrs. Emma Boll, Mrs. Barbara Brantigan, and Mrs. Mary Zeutschel; and a brother Peter, all of Wilmette; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services and burial were in California.
