Miss Greens room or theî third and fourthi and fifth grade room was exhibiting, some history slides that the pu pil s had made themselves. Mr. Murphy's, room or the 6th and 7th grade rooin was displaying practically everything.. At 7:30 o'clock in the evenin,. all the pupils and parents gathercili at the different classes for 30 min- Utes of recitation. At ý8:30-o'clock the pupils and parents assembled i the auditorium for a business meet- ing of the student council and the awarding of the basketball letters. After that, flolores Schwall did a tap dance and an acrobatic dance. Lenora Giambastian crooned "Over Somebody Else's Shoulder" and "You Ought to Be ini Pictures." Mfr. I went dowft and he told' me to be quiet and look under the car. 1 looked and I saw about five or six birds. They were fighting. We watched themn chirping -ind jumping. We. had a. very good timeý and we arce going, nekt week, too.-Jean Lindstrom, .%oward Sehools For 1m Teams for Basebilt Clashes The season for basehali is on and having played mnany, intranrural and roomn gamnes, we are now organizing heavyweigbt, lightweiglit and peeN-ee teamns. The teamns are to be separate at each school and are to play each other. We groan to think that after weeks; of track we have te get iii early on Saturday mornings and go out and play baseball. However, if we make the teams there wilI be less groaning, as for some it mneans a Rotary award, and for1 others a letter.-Ted Riley. Stolp scbool. About fifteen mninutes b)e- fore they started, Mr. Petaja, the man who took me, showed me the Wisconsin locker room. In there. 1 met the coach..'I think his namne was jones. He was a very nice. mari. Illinois took the meet. Indiana was second, Michigan third, and North- western fourth.-John Hughes, How.- Glass Learnlng to Ride Horses The girls of Howard SA and' 8B. went, for a. horseback ride Satuday afternoon. There were fifteen of us counting Mrs. Fanckboner, the gy teacher, and her two children. I.Ve went to the Oki Hi Stables near Nôrthbrook. The fée. was 75,cents a person. When we had our finances ,settled they brought out the horses'and we mounted. I had a, good horse named major.- There was aý large square fenced arena. which we rode around in single flule. One of the horsemen from the stable gave us a lesson. He told us how to make the horse 'stop, how to hold the reins, how to keep our feet in, the stirrups-and several other things. After we had ridden around tIhe arena several times we went on a trail tlrrough thre Woods. Thre stable master led us along the trail in single file. It was .a lovely trail that led through a forest. We rode quite a while and then returned to the stable. Then we aIl went to Mrs. Fanck boner's house for punch. After that we went home. We ail enjoyed it very much.-Florence Whiittrq- ton, Howard 8B. Pupils Are Practicing Commencement Songe The eighth grades from Howard school have been practicing comi- mencement songs. This year's school song was written by David Geppert but as yet we, have flot studied it. The girls have compromised on grad- uation dresses and have decided on semi-formais.
