WILMETTE ' LIFE Capable Cast Is Busy Rehearsing New Boiler Doubles Power Out-Put at Nelson Laundry for "Close-Up" :; r. t k r t· (Contributed) The excellence of the cast of "Closel ' p ·· the play that is to be given as a hcn'cfit for 'the building fund of the \\'oman's club of \N"ilmette February 28 ;:ncl March 1, and the earnest!less of it~ wnrk arc raising the productiOn out ot the amateur class. Marian Ortseifen of Kenilworth iR a consistent and artistic characterization of the exotic movie heroine Mona Vane, gives us an imprcssio~ of a very intriguing and yet human personality. Miss Ortseifen is a senior in the Northwestern school of ~oecch and has acted in various campus ;rodu~tions,. and had a }uvenile p_art of 1importance tn last years productton of "l .ombardi, Ltd." at the club. Ralph Whitney is making the part of the handsome and romantic movie hero, Bruce De Lisle, very thrilling and very real. Mr. vVhitney is a graduate of the C nivcrsity of Utah and is a student in~~ ructor at N orthwestcrn university. The role of the hated rival is being :-;moothly played by Rutherford Lee. Lee has appeared before Chautauqua audiences for some years, and also sings m·er the radio. Mildred Flaskered beautifu lly pre<;ents Delicia. the light ,.;llaincss, ·11e preferred blonde. Minor Coburn W dO is pleasantly familiar to us in \Vilmette for his skilliul \VOrk in character parts in many local dramatic efforts, as \veil as on the professional stage, has the major comedy role. As Meadows, the Engli sh butler, who saves the situation i or the movie colony when it comes up( 111 unfortunate days, he is an important link in the action of the play. F(m r past commanders of the local post of the American Legion are helping to make the play a success by the vividness of their acting, Dr. 'vV. vV. Hawkins, Lea Orr, Fred Lippen, and ~tanton Van Inwagen. Dr. Hawkins is gratefully remembered, extra-profcs~ionally, as the convincing caveman of "As It \Vas in the Beginning." and also io r his part in "Lombardi, Ltd." Lea Orr impersonates with much zest Benny Ziegler, a zealous press agent. R ebecca Fitch is cast sympathetically for the l'qually ubiquitous newspaper woman, Sara Stebbins, for Miss Fitch is prof c. sionally of the newspaper world. The younger group of actors has the large job of giving realistic impersonations of popular movie stars, and is f cverishly engaged in digging up all avai lable movie lore, and commandeering movie magazines in order to give accurate representations. The last act is made brilliant by a night club scene, for which Miralago is furnishing its new tables and chairs, and Hubert Hoffman, the tropical foliage. The production as a whole will delight the eye and sati sfy the imagination of the audience.
