Julliard School Sponsors Music Publication Contest The J uilliard School of Music in New York has announced a 1930 com petition for publication of new orchestra works by American composers. One work is to selected. and publishcct. The terms of the competition are : 1. Compositions must be by native born or naturalized American· citizens. 2. Only such orchestral compositions are suitable for performance by a ma~or symphony orchestra will be consider~cl. and only compositions of which the c0mposer owns or can control the copyright should be submitted. 3. Con positions which have been previou~ly performed should be accompained hy a brief ~tatement as to places and dates of performance so far as known. 4. Compositions should be sent to the J uilliard School of Music, New Yo:k, before May 1, 1930. Manuscripts sent hy mail should be insured and. the c-omposer's name and address securely attached. Manuscripts not selected for publication will be returned to the send.e r. 5.
