January 17, 1930 WIL~ETTE LIFE JUNIOR LIFE (Continued from preceding page) , It Appears Those Star Books Aren't Popular Tqesday afternoon, January 7, at fifth period, which happened to be general ~cience, was a black letter pariod for eig·ht-B Howard. Ei~ht-B seem!'i to have gotten a lot of pep during vacation wh:ch of course is due to a lo1i of fun. althoug!l our brain cells are du~ty. We all went into the . .,cience room happy ·but as the story progresses, the reason for the long faces when we came out will be explained. Mi~s Stevens, our science teacher, said we came' into the room too noisily so we could have a silent lesson. Of course w , all love reading those atrocious blue books which contain dry science. After we had choked that assignment down we had the hiccou~hs. Then Miss Stevens said we had to make star b..!)oklets, to be handed in the latter part of FebrtJary. Well we had our silent reading but at the eQd of the period, whether out of sympathy or as a reward for acting good when we were readin~ I don't know, but I do know that we had experiments given by Lois Sandberg and Paul Urton which sweetened our temper~ a little. Just as Paul got throu~t,h his experiment the bell raJl~ we filed out with long face::;. The star bool<s had been mentioned again. . -Margrette H.E>ynolds, Howard SB.
