A. Burrill of Wilmette, is cast as a follower of Mars in 'the Rockford College May party, which will be given May 18. The May festival is an annual event at Rockford college given in honor of the May Queen, who is elected from the Senior class. It is being presented this year in the form of a Greek pageant. Miss Burrill vvas chairman of this year's Freshman prom, was captain of the Freshman Hockey team, and playeel one of the leading roles in "Becket," the spring production of the Dramatic Central-Laurel P.T.A. The final meeting of the Central Laurel P. T. A., held Tuesday, May 14, in the Sfolp gymnasium, was open ed with a reading of the newly framed charter by the president, Mrs. W. A. Kendrick. One of the cardinal points, the wise use of leisure, was the theme of the day's program, as announced by the chairman, Mrs. William Rehfield. Daniel M. Davis, director of recreation in Wilmette told of the effective work done in past summers, and outlined plans for the coming season. Playgrounds will be opened the Mon day after the close of school in Village green, Vattman Park, and Central school with supervisors to direct play, manage contests, and instruct in hand craft, sports, and many varied interests to keep children busy and happy. When the beach opens there will be daily swimming lessons for beginners and competitive sports for the more advanced. Day trips in and about Chicago were attractively pictur~d and described by Mr. Nielson of the Chicago Outdoor Recr~~tional Bureau. The boys' band of Howard and Central schools then presented a group of musical numbers under the direction of ]. C. Schumacher. The boys play in very spirited fashion and make a fine appearance in the n.e w uniform s. A group of dances entitled "In a Garden" "Japanese Doll," and "Dance Eccentric" were given by beginning pupils of Mis s Georgiana Weedon . John Meek of Glencoe, a member of the class of 1930 and of Sphinx and Theta Zi honorary fraternities, has been made associate editor of the Armour Tech News. W. Olson of Wilmette, at a dinner given recently by Theta Zi for members and parents, had his name inscribed on a cup as the freshman who did most in general to carry out the spirit of his class.
