Allen, Jr., retiring president of Today and Saturday the Wilmette Rotary club, represented D. E. Allen, Jr., Speaks his club in a speaking contest at the Chicago Rotary dub's annual Metropolitan area Rotary meeting Tuesday of this week. The subject discussed by contestants representing various clubs in the suburban area was : "Practical Examples of Rotary Service in Our CommunitY." Mr. Allen stressed in his talk the ~ work of the Wilmette Communitv Chest, which project was originally -proposed by the Wilmette Rotarv club, and in which its members, as individuals, maintain a vital and active interest. A silver loving cup, awarded by the Chicago club for the best presentation in the competition, became the permanent possession of the Evanston club, the trophy having been awarded to that club for the third successive year. Twenty members of the Wilmette club attended the Chicago luncheon. Chicago Rotary President Floyd L. Bateman, 735 Michigan avenue, Wilmette, president of the TransContinental Freight company, was elected president of the Chicago Rotary club at the annual election last week.
