Steele of 678 Greenwood avenue, Glencoe, chairman of t he camping committee of the North Shore Area council, announce.; the Camping committee has approved the following rates and periods for Camp Ma-Ka-] aWan, the new Council camp which is being developed at Elcho, Wi s. The camp will open July 6. Each session will be for a full fourteen days length. Scouts ·will leave on Saturday and return on Sunday two weeks later. The session.; are as follows, first session July 6-July 21, second session July 20-August 4, third session Augu'5t 3-August 18. The board for one session in camp wm be $13.50 per scout if he comes a s an individual, and the camp provides the leadership. If at least eight '5couts from the troop enroll together with an adult leader from the troop, the cost will be $12.50 per scout and the leader will not be charged any ·fee either for board or transportation. The board for succeeding sessions will be $18 per session. The council stands a loss on each Scout who goes to camp and feels that Scouts who attend for longer than one period should more nearly bear their proportionate share. The railroad has establhhed the following rates--$10 for one session, ~12 for two sessions, and $12.50 for three sessions. The5e prices and policies are in line with what the Chicago council and other Boy Scout councils throughout .the country are charging. The Chicago fee for board is $14 as an individual and $13 as a troop for one session of twelve days, succeeding sessions $20 each; Transpor tation $3.50; All Scout'.; of councils · other than their own, $20 each, plus $3.50 transportation. That is what it would cost the Scouts of the north shore, were they to use the Chicago council's camp again this year. However, since we have our own camp site, they are not taking any of the north shore Scouts this year. Camp Ma-ka-J a-wan has an advantage offered few other Boy Scout camps in the country, since it is located in the beautiful vacation center of Wisconsin. Mr. Steele say5: "There is no question but that the North Shore camp will prove to be one of the best and most popular Scout camps in this region.
