WILMETTE LIFE April 19, 1929 Fine Arts Academy Will Hold Exhibit' of Interior Designs Interesting work done at the Evanston Academy of Fine Arts in developing its department in interior design, wi11 be a feature of the annual exhibit by its 150 students at the school May 16, 17 and 18. In the school's pleasant art · rooms, high in the tower of the Carlson building where windows ·give view to town and lake far to the north, final preparation for this event is being made. For many young aspiring artists this will be their first exhibit, but there is also a large group of "old-timers" about to complete their · second year, and results of their work as compared with their creations of last 'year will be interesting to those who visited the exhibition . last season and see this spring's showing. Enrollment has doubled in the last year, and the exhibit is promised "bigger and better" than that of last season. In the ·newly developed department of interior design, , students are being taught how to design and construct every detail of the interior of the building. Each student will exhibit a complete miniature room with furniture, drapes or wall coverings, together with water color rendering and large detail drawings. Thursday evening, under direction of Tom Robinson, Northwestern swimming coach, 65 stutlents enjoyed the fourth party of the school year in the nature of a swimming 'meet held at the university pool. There was a program of stunts and races, with prizes won by Miss Donna Klewer and Edward Ryerson. Jimmy O'Keefe entertained with fancy diving stunts. Arrangements were in charge of Carl Scheffler, direc.t or of the academy. TO GIVE LUNCHEON Jane Cop thorne, Margaret Thayer, Jean Henning, and Dorothy Darby,' are entertaining at luncheon and bridge Saturday, April 27, at the Georgian hotel. Sings at Shawnee Club Lorna Doone Jackson, mezzo soprano, will give the Music Hour program at the Shawnee Country club Sunday afternoon, April 21, at 4 o'clock. Miss Jackson studied in Europe with Madame Emma Calve the greatest of all Carmens, at her Chateau de Cabrieres in the Province of Areyron in the Pyrenees Mountain·3 of Southern France. During the season 1924-1925 she was a member of the· San Carlo Opera company touring the Pacific ·coast, and in the summer season of 1925 sang with the Cincinnati Zoo opera and the St. Louis Municipal opera.
