April 19. 1929 .WILMETTE LIFE · l3 Junior Hikers Take Trip to Chipilly Ridge in Preserve · Seventy-four boys, members of the Junior Hikers club of Kenilworth. took an aU-day hike to Chipilly ridge in the Forest Preserve west of Glencoe last Saturday. It was the biggest hike m the la·.st seven years in Kenilworth, according to Robert W. Townley, athletic director at. the Joseph Sears school. Only six boys fron1 the club's total membership of eighty were absent. Parents of the boys furnished fifteen automobiles which carried. them to the rfdge. The boys divided into groups of three for fire-making and fire-building, and each boy brought his own food. A wool hunt and Scout games of various kinds were on the program. Five former Junior Hiker leaders who have become full-fledged ScoutsCarleton Ross, Freddie Workman, Tom Cruttenden, Bob Berger, and Billy Robertson-assisted the Hiker leader, Tom Hildebrand, in carrying out the program.
