The Purple nine recently completed a successful southern training trip and appears ready to start on the long Big . Ten schedule. Although the Wildcats won onh two out of the seven games on the southern jaunt, their showing in all the contests was good. Four of the games they lost were by one-run margins. The pitchers especially seem to be in fine form for so early in the season. Coach Paul Stewart has three hurlers that he can depend on for first class performances. They are George· Panosh. Gerald McAleece and Les Heideman. Two Evanston boys, Larry Oliphant and Don Scheutt, are contenders for the first base position with the former having the edge. Both are sophomores.
