8. WILMETTE LIFE April 12, 1929 Taft at Sunday Club Plan Great Benefit Fete to Aid I. 0. 0. F. Charity Ninety-eight Odd FelJow and Rebekah lodges of the Chicago area embracing 50,000 members, have launched a concerted drive in behalf of the Orphans Home at Mattoon, the Old Folks Home at Lincoln, and Chicago's monument to Oddfello'wship, the Mid Citv temple. · · The plan, according to General Chairman Louis ]. Delson, is to raise a large sum for these institutions bv means of a monstrous frolic, show and dance at the Ashland auditorium Mav 11, for which the whole membershi;> is asked to sell tic"kets. · Some of the unique feature s of the frolic are a Popular Daughters con test, to elect a "Queen of the Frolic." a spectacular grand march led by promi nent Odd Fellows and Rebekahs-and stars of the theater and radio. At the Theater A Review The Connecticut Yankee Garrick theater This is from Mark Twain's tale, produced by Lew Fields et al and offered in Chicago by the Messrs. Shubert. The late Mr. Twain might not recognize his story in all of its fine details but its a safe guess he would have many a hearty laugh and would cheer quite as loudly as have the crowds which saw it during its long run in New York and those now seeing it at the Garrick. It has music which captivates, a marvelous mixed chorus of singers and dancers, an interesting and witty book and principals sufficiently capable to interpret it with full effect. William Gaxton, a comedian of parts, performs admirably: despite a carelessness of manner for which a long run may be to blame. Mary Adams, a beautiful and attractive actress, is nimble and sings well. Nan;1 Byrant, Paul Everton. Jack Thompson and Alice Cavanaugh are others of prominence in a large cast. -THESPIAN We offu a moving service that is modern and complete in every det~il.
