Saturday evening Bobby and Nancy McCloud are leaving for Omaha, where they will join their mother and spend a week or ten days with Mrs. McCloud's mother, Mrs. Robert Olmstead. Bently McCloud, .T r., with four other boys, is driving east to spend Easter vacation. --oDr. and Mrs. Herbert L. Willett, 319 Richmond road, Kenilworth are leaving March 31. for Pasadena, to be the guests of Mrs. ] . A. Culbertson of 220 Melrose avenue, Kenilworth, who has a · winter home in Pasadena. Mrs. Willett expects to spend the month of April with Mrs. Culbertson. Dr. Willett will return in a week or ten days. N. U. Swimmers Hold Tom Wame Vaults for World's Indoor Record Five Big Ten Marks Another episode · in the pole-vaulting duel between Tom Warne of Northwestern and Canby of Iowa was written Saturday at the University of Illinois relays when Warne won again the world's indoor record with a leap of 13 feet 7~ inches. This is one-quarter inch better than the mark set by Canby a week before. Warne was in the best of form and after his sensational leap had the hal· raised to 14 feet 2 inches. On his third try he went over safely but touched the bar on his way down and just missed bettering all world's records for pole vaulting. The Northwestern track team will rest this weekend, but March 29 and 30 will open the outdoor season at the Texas and Southern Methodist university relays. Important dates on its spring calendar are the quadrangular at Chicago May 18 and the conference meet at Dyche stadium May 25. Dan Harrison, 307 Abbottsford road, Kenilworth arrived home last Friday from Asheville, N. C., where he is a student at the Asheville school for boys, to spend his spring vacation. in Total of 8 Records Northwestern university swimmers, by virtue of their record-breaking activities in the recent Big Ten meet at the University of Chicago, now hold five of the eight Western Conference records. The Purple na-tators held two of the marks before the meet and added three ·more during the contests . Ralph Breyer who · 3wam for the Purple in 1925 still holds the 40 yard dash record of ·18 2-5 seconds. At Schwartz set the 220 yard swim mark ~ year ago with the time of 2 :18 2-5 seconds. In this year's meet Dick Hinch set a new record of 1 :40 for the 150 yard back stroke; Don Peterson swam the 200 yard brea'3t stroke in 2 :37.4, breaking Faricy's old record of 2:38.8 made in 1922; and the Northwestern medley relay team set a new mark of 3:10.6 breaking Michigan's previous record of 3:12 made a year ago. Coach Tom Robinson will continue to put his athletes through their paces in preparation for the National Intercollegiate meet to be held at Washington university in St . Louis, March 29 and 30.
