I March 22, 1929 WILMETTE LIFE 2l New Trier Students 'l New Books Compete for Trip to Europe This Summer .__ _ _ _ _ _ __, Grace Stanley and Elizabeth Van Steuberg represented New Trier High school in the third national competitive examination of the League of Nations association last Friday, March 15, to pick the winner of a trip to Europe this summer. Answering a set of questions about the League of Nations was the principal feature of the examination. The students' examination papers have been sent to the headquarters of the League of Nat ions association in New York City, and the \'rinners probably will not be announced until May. New Trier was one of forty-one Illinois high schools registered for the competitive examination. Besides the first prize of a trip to Europe, second and third prizes of $100 and $50 respectively also will be awarded. In addition to the prizes which will he awarded by the National Educational committee of the League of Nations association, the Illinois committee of the association will give a prize of $25 to the student winning first prize in 'this state. Only those entered in the national contest will be eligible for the state priz~, but the Illinois prize \\·ill not be awarded to a student who ma~· win the national award. Subjects ranging from medieval history to present-day aviation are treated in a list of twenty new non-fiction volumes received at the Wilmette Public llbrary this week.
