The High school will hold its anl!ual game was played on the Haven court. amateur contest next Thursday mght in the school auditorium. At this contest boys of the school who have talent are urged to take part. A faculty committee of judges will decide the winners. The program will . be preceded by a dinner in the mess hall at 6 o'clock. Sophomore debaters of N e~ Trier High school, upholding the negative of the question, "Resolved: That the Jury System in the United States Should Be Abolished," defeated tht New Trier senior team in a close contest by a 2 to 1 decision last Friday, March 8, at the Central school auditorium in Glencoe. This was the third time this season that the New Trier teams have met in practice debate. The sophomores now have the edge, having won two of the three clashes. . Speakers for last Friday's debate s were: sophomores-Lowell Comee, Olin Sethness, and Albert Denton; s~niors Lois Goldstein, John Erickson, and Dorland Davis. John Curtis, New Trier freshman debater and a graduate of the Glencoe Public schools, acted as chairman. The debate was judged by ~orman E. Watson. assistant superintendent of the Glencoe schools. and two members of the Glencoe f(!culty, Mis5, June English and Miss Anne Long. Pupils of the seventh and eighth grades of the Central school heard the speeches. Saturday morning, March 9, at. Kenilworth, the Joseph Sears teams lost to Wilmette in all ~xcept the heavyweight class. O Purple Swimmers to Try for Title This Weekend Northwestern swimmers, who hold seven out of the eight national intercollegiate records for the short course pool, will compete in the conference meet at Chicago Saturday in an attempt to wrest the title from the Michigan team. defenders from last year. .The Purple defeated Michigan last Friday in a dual meet, 37 to 32, and is a strong favorite to capture the title. The team has scored victories in twelve dual meets this season, including the eight wins during its invasion of the west coast. Only the breaststroke record for the 60-foot pool is not held by the Northwestern team, and in this ev~nt Dick Petersen has swum within one second of the record.
