Teatro ·:-----~-~·~-~-~---------------------- Patsy Ruth J.Yiller Stars in Picture Coming to Varsity is a relic of the past, responsible for more unhappiness than any other custom in the world's history. It lures the human race down a blind alley-marriage is like a one-way ticket to nowhere." Thus reads a title in the opening scenes of "Marriage by Contract," the John M. Stahl special production in which Patsy Ruth Miller, Lawrence Gray, and a great supporting cast will be seen at the Varsity theater in Evanston next Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. "Marriage by Contract," written by Edward Clark, is a drama of the latest f~shion in marriages - companionate. "You marry by contract and on trial for a perio~ of time and then, if you get along mcely, you make it binding so that only death or divorce can separate you. But "M~rriage by Contract" shows how, at. the end of the trial period, ~o.mpam~,nate husbands are r_eady to stgn off and try the same tlung with another girl. It also argues that the old fashioned marriage, founded on love, respect, and mutual forbearance has more safeguards for a woman than . the so-called companionate type. Thts Saturday, February 2 the Varsity is showing for one da; only "Sunset Pass," starring Jack Holt. 41 Small Boy Is Hero of T eatro del Lago Film This Saturday Mar~iage SUNDAY Doors Open 1 :30 .
