SSe A church of English Gothic beauty, depicted on the cover of this issue of WII.Mt~ Ltrt, will soon occupy the property at the southwest corner of Greenleaf avenue and Seventh street, built by the members of the Wilmette English Lutheran church. This newest of Wilmette' church organizations was started 5even years ago-April 21, h· 1921, to be exact-with a members tp of seventy-five communicants. It has experienced an increase i~ membership of 40 percent during the past twelve months, with an attendant increase of $1,200 in offerings during the past year. The first anniversary of the present pa3torate-the Rev. Carl I. Empson- will be observed Sunday, December 16, at special services. The auditorium of the new church edifice will seat :350 people. The basement hall will permit the serving of 350 people at a single banquet. The present bungalow-chapel structure which has housed church and parsonage for several years, is to be remodelled into a roomy parsonage. The tower on the proposed $50,000 edifice will be so built as to accommodate a full set of chimes to be added at a later date. Addition at Sears School Opened /lJr I ns"'ect .ion Saturda·· I' J The recently completed Joseph Sears school addition in Kenilworth will be open for inspection by the publie from 7 · to· 10 o'clock Saturday ev.e ning of this week. The addition, which faces on Abbottsford road and adjoins the old wing of the school on Cumberland avenue, was erected at a cost of approximately $150,000. Construction work has been in progress for the last six months, and the first classes were held in the new building last week. The kindergarten and the first five grades are now using the addition, which has a capacity for about 375 pupits. This is considered sufficient to take care of the growth of the school for several years. Until the new building was finished temporary quarters were established for the lower grades in a house adjoining the classroom and gymn~sium addition on the south. A total of approximately $210,000 i~ to be expected for the building program at the Joseph Sears school. The gymnasium unit, work on which was started a few months after that of the classroom addition, will cost in the neighborhood of $60,000. Supt. E. L. Nygaard stated this week that he expected the g-ymnasium to be ready for use about January 1. The plastering and plumbing work and the laying of the floor remains to be done. ANNOUNCE PARTY The Business and Professional Wo men's club announce a party for Mon day, December 10.
