Girl Scouts December 1-December 8 The weekend convention at the Drake hotel, December 1 .and 2 was a great success. The programs were unusually fine, and the Girl Scouts had a great time both in a "fun" way and in an inspirational way. It was great fun to see the movies taken at ·OUr camps last summer and to see old friends again at the reunion. The Scouts were happy to meet Mrs. Rippin, our national director, and enjoyed her talk and stories at the Scouts' Own Service Sunday immensely. The message which Mrs. Rippin left with us was "Have dreams and ambitions, but at the same time 'be yourself'". William Walton Elected Class Officer at Ames William F. WaJton, New Trier graduate of 1927 and son of Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Walton, of 1607 Forest avenue, Wilmette, has been 'elected vice-president of the sophomore class a,t Iowa State college, Ames, Ia., where he is taking an engineering course. A few weeks ago he was initiated into the Pebuls, honorary social fraternity. Among them was a nature exhibit including collections, rare specimens, ordinary beauties of nature which a girl may see any day, and a list of the Girl Scout nature requirements. One exhibit showed knot tieing, signalling, tablesetting, map making, trail signs, and · many other things which a Girl Scout must know. A. scene entitled "Camp Life" was composed of tents, dolls dres3ed for camp, a lake, and some of the handicraft which the girls made at camp last summer. A number of the laws were dramatized, the girls worked out a play illustrating the "Healthwinner Badge" or personal health record, and various bandages to be used in First Aid were demonstrated. Sears Fourth Grade Claims Football Title Fourth grade boys of the Joseph Sears school in Kenilworth claim the football championship of the north shore for their grade during the s~a son just closed. They have met fourth grade teams along the entire north shore and have lost no games. Last week in two post-season games the. victims were the Central school of Wilmette, which fell 13 to 6, and the Greeley school of Winnetka, loser .~ by a 43 to 0 score.
