New Trier High school opens its football season Saturday, October 6 when it meets Lakeview High schooi of Chicago on the ·New Trier field Under the direction of Coach Ashen~ bach, the New Trier players have been practicing daily in preparation for the opening game. New Trier is considered a favorite to win on the basis of its splendid record last year, and in view of the fact that Lakeview has already lost two games by 7 to 0 scores, one to Bloom High s·c hool of Chicago Heights, and the othtr to Riverside. The New Trier-Lakeview game will start at 2 o'clock. The New Trier varsity scrimmaged for a few hours with the North Shore Country Day school eleven last Saturday, and although a regular game was not played, the practice gave some idea of what the New Trier team for the coming year will look like. Following the scrimmage Coach Ashenbach remarked that he was well satisfied with the showing of his first team, with the exception of the ends . The line plunging of the ~ew Trierites looked good, but the passing was something else again. Of seven attempted passes only two were completed, and neither of these was caught by the ends. One of Coach Ashenbach's chief difficulties at present is the developing of adequate re serve material. The starting lineup for New Trier will be as follows: Cullen, center; Captain Wienecke and MacArthur, guards; Thompson, Rossiter, and Lorenz, tackles ; Hall and Vorncamp, ends; Hunter Hicks. quarterback; Tom Hicks and Nelson, halfbacks; and At Richards, fullback. It is probable that several lineups will be used in the first game. The additional bleachers have been erected · and all is in readiness for the starting whistle. "Duke" Childs, director of athletics at New Trier, announced this week that a game between the FreshmanSophomore team and the North Shore Country Day school team will be played this Saturday morning beginning at 10 o'clock at X ew Trier field.
