Whitehill, + McClintock Vault to Be lnatalled in New Banking Structure on Wilmette Avenue In an interview with President E. B. Knudtson of the First National bank concerning the new banking structure on Wilmette avenue, he expressed the following views of the bank officers regarding vaults : "The vital part of a· bank is its vaults. Therein are stored not only the records and monies of the 'bank itself, but also the valuable possessions of safe deposit box customers, which we consider more important than the bank's cash. Therefore, in the planning and construction of our new bank building every consideration has been given to the safety and security of our vaults. Protected Electrically "Not satisfied with thick walls and heavy entrances, a contract has just been made with the 0. B. McClintock company, the largest bank vault burglar alarm manufacturers in the world, to electrically protect our vaults. "The entire surface of the walls, ceiling, and floor are to be surrounded with electrically sensitive protection. The vault doors are protected against attack of any kind. "No gang of yeggs with their disastrous burning outfit, commonly termed by insurance companies as the 'torch of hades' will attack our bank because it is well known among those of the underworld that tempering with a ·McClintock electrically protected vault spells positive defeat. Records show that more than forty-five bank burglars, hold-up men and their associates have been killed or imprisoned through the means of 'McClintock' alarms. Automatic Supervision "Automatic supervision provides a strict check up on the officials of our bank so that at no time could our vaults be left for the night without being perfectly and properly safeguarded. "Any attack made on the vaults of this bank will imm~diately cause an alarm from the heavy gong installed in its electrically-protected housing on the outside of the building. Any attempt to. destroy or silence this big gong· wil1 at once cause the alarm to sound. . "This wonderful system of electrical protection is recognized as the finest thing of its kind. Vault engineers, architects, bankers, and burglary insurance companies have given it their approval. It is passed by the Under. writers' Laboratories in the highest rating, that of Grade 'A'." daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. H.
