C." and Household 0. Grand Reunion July 29 is not a national holiday, but nobody's going to tell any member of the Schultz family that it isn't one of the biggest days of the year. Judged by the regimental size of the family it wouldn't be safe to start an argument in opposition to the views of the Schultz family for there are between 150 and 160 of 'em and they sure do "stick together." . For five years they've been "sticking together" so well that every year they hold a reunion and picnic. That happens to be the reason why July . 29 is the "big day." The fifth reunion, last Sunday, was held in the · Forest Preserve in the vicinity of Dundee and 'raukegan roads, and a count of noses revealed that there were eighty-two members of the family present. 'Yilmette furnishes a considerable quota of the family membership for C. C. Schultz, our Superintendent of Public Works, is able to count fourteen "C. C.", in his immediate family. otherwise known as Carl, and Mrs. Schultz make two, there are three daughters, all of whom are married; a son; the three sons-in-law, and five grandchildren. 100 Percent at Roll c · au D 0 At 0 Univ. 2750-Sl-52-53 616 DAVIS STREET, EVANSTON MORGAN Wilmette 835-838 Peaches Pears BART~" CALIF. "And do you know," said Mr. Schultz, who is still thinking about the fun he had last Sunday, "My immediate family r~istered 100 percent in attendance." The Schultz family got its start in this country many years ago when ·"c. C.'s" father, five brothers and a sister came to America, comprising a pioneer group. Now the grandfathers, fathers, grandmothers, mothers, uncles, aunts, cousins, sons and daughters-inlaw and grandchildren, whichever they happen to be, are scattered all over the country. Gustave Schultz, a cousin of "C. C.," came all the way from Los Angeles to ·attend the reunion. Gustave Schultz, who is president of the Village of Bartlett, and his family were there. Otto Schultz, a second cousin of Carl, came from Akron, 0. The first Schultz reunion was held at Elgin in 1924 when one hundred and six members attended. The second \:c.·as held in Chicago and seventy-six were present. The third and fourth were held at Bartlett, Ill., eighty-five being present the first year while last year seventy were on hand. Starting early in the morning the Schultz cJan came from all directions to camp at the For est Preserve. All had baskets of food, for one of the rules of the reunion is that all "go dutch." The day was passed in games of horseshoes and baseball by the socalled stronger sex, while the women folks sat around and reminisced. It was not until 6 o'clock in the evening that the last member of the family departed from the Forest Preserve. They probably would have remained longer had not that unbidden guest, the pesky mosquito, joined the festivities. There'll be another reunion next year. APES--cALIFORNIA A GR 00 Seedless _ .,.
