July 13, 1928 WILMETTE LIFE Boy Scouts Thank Skeeter ·Battlers for Fine Service The North Shore Mosquito Abatement district has been spending the last week or, hyo cle~ning out the middle fork of the North branch of the Chicago River near the Boy Scout Cabin-in-the-Woods in the Sun set Grove Forest Preserve. During the past years the stream has been clogged with small willows, logs, stumps and trash of all kiQds, m~king the place a mosquito-breeding center. The mosquito abatement organization has been at work making possible a good ·flow of water and it is expected that from now on conditions will be much improved. The ponds and swamps in the neighborhood have been either drained or oiled. Many north shore men have done a great deal to make the Cabin-in-theWoods a real asset to north shore Scouting: County Commissioner Oscar W. Schmidt of Wilmette, has been a gn~at friend. The thanks of north shore Scouts are also extended Jo William Edwards, superintendent of the North Shore Mosquito Abatement district.
