June 29, 1928 WILMETTE LIFE ... - Scout Troop 12 ·Plans Reorganize Forest ita Summer Activities Preserv_e Districts; Troop 12 · of the B~y Scouts of Great Playgrounds America deCided last Friday night in Reorganization of the administration of the Cook county Forest Preserve has occurred during the last few weeks. The Forest Preserves in the county are now divided· into only five districts instead of fifteen, as was the case previous to the reorganization, which took effect on June 15. M. S. Szymczak is general superintendent of the Forest Preserve district administration. He has been connected with the West Park boards and is a professor of economics at DePaul university .. C. E. Hall, district sup ervisor, has been made the head of a new department of public relations. Mr. Halt has been in the forest preserve work in Cook county for five years. The purpose of the new department according to Mr. Hall, is to keep th~ public informed concerning what is going on in the Preserves and in the administration and to educate the public to an appreciation of the advantages which the Cook county Forest Preserves offer . . ~here were four million registered v1s1tors at the Forest Preserves in Cook county last year, Mr. Hall states, and the actual number of visitors was probably twice that number since many who come merely for picnics and outings do not register. Flower picking in the preserves is not so prevalent this year and this will result in a virtual carpet of flowers next spring, Mr. Hall believes. Boy Scouts who visit the Preserves frequentl.y have done much to prevent Yandahsm, he states. its meeting at the Teatro del Lago to continue its activities during the summer months. Louis C. Winnetka Church to Hold Picnic in Forest Preserve The annual Sunday School picnic of the First Scandinavian Evangelical church of \Vinnetka will be held Sunday, July 1, in the Glenviev. · Forest Preserve. This event marks the climax of the Sunday school activities for the lieason and the becrinning of the summer "vacation." ~ Parents and friends of the Sunda ,. school or church are heartily invited to spend the day with the boy3 and ~irls at this beautiful natural park.
