The balance of the evening was devoted to a social time. Mr. Kelbye's cousin, organist of Luther Memorial church, Chicago, entertained the League wtth several numbers on tile plano. Wallace Stark provided eonstderable amusement with his droll Swedish Impersonations. The Lutheran church was Invited by the Indian government to establish a Christian college In the province of Rajamundry, Jndla. Professor Manlkam Is a teacher In tbls college. The quota Is $%00,000. If this quota Is obtained tn cash by February 1, 19%8, the Rockefeller Foundation will present Carthage college with an additional 11'15,000. In order to ·meet the conditions, the Illinois Synod has laid quotas upon all churches In the Synod. The local church has a quota of $281. A part of this has been given by Individuals. At the annual congregational meeting the pastor was authorised to appoint a committee which shall be known as a Building Campaign committee.
