Wilmette Golf Club Loses Heavily When Tool House Burns · The tool house of the Wilmette Golf club, located on Lake avenue west of \Vilmette, was completely destroyed by fire of unknown origin, at an estimated loss of more than $12,600, shortly after midnight Saturday. As the alarm was turned 111 at Glenview, considerable delay was occasion~ <·d before the arrival of the fire truck from that viJlage. Moreover, once upon the scene, no fire ~lugs were available near the burning building, nor was it possible for them to obtain water from the water tower lo-cated near by and as a resu 1 t little could be accomplished toward extinguishing the blaze. The fire was . ~iscoyered by the custodian at the club, whose residence is situated only a short distance from the site of the destroyed buliding. In turning in the alarm, the house phone was used, which is connected with the ~lenvinr exchange, and as a result the Glenview department \vas notified while the dub tics within the Wilmette district. However, had the alarm been turned in at the lo-cal station it is doubtful whether much could have been ~tccamplished because of the lack of water. In addition to the building, valued I at $6,000; machinery valued at $6,600, including three tractors and a truck; and grass seed valued at $1,900 were also destroyed.
