Ask Charles Speed's Support Formation of a new private go.l£ club to be composed largely of the member.ship of the Northwestern public links association is expected to be accomplished in the near future, it was learned this week. Preliminary steps for the new club l1ave already been taken, and if sufficient persons can be interested in the proposition it is expected that final plans will be made soon. A starting membership of between 300 and 400 ·persons is desired. A reasonable an·nual fee will be charged, sufficient to give each member an equity in the ·club. · Charles F. Speed, manag~r of the ~Q.rthwestern public links before it was taken over by the county, is being sought to organize and manage the ·new club. Mr. Speed's capable management of the Northwestern course has caused members of the former organization to seek his aid in forming the proposed club. Mr. Speed said that if sufficient per~ons desire the new club he would help to organize it. A location near Evanston has already been picked out and will be purchased as soon as the mem· hers are secured, it was said. The new club will be an addition to the already large number of golf clubs on the north shore. However, the crowded condition of the public courses indicates the need for more courses, and the addition of a new pri,.a te club with reasonable rates is expected to be welcomed by the large " number of golf fans in this vicinity. Wby rt W one GUM·DIPPED TIRES Wear Longer E recently were given the tremendous a~vantage of having the mammoth . Firestone factories brought to us. In Tire Educational Meetings we were ; shown, by ~eans of motion pictures, charts, tire samples and complete engineer- ' ing data, the details of Firestone tire design and construction-and how Firestone and Oldfield tires and tubes are made in the world's most efficient and · economical rubber factories. 1 Firestone pioneered the original low-pressure tire and_ made it practical by, Gum-Dipping. The motion pictures showed us how the cords of the carcass are dipped in a rubber solution; thoroughly saturating and insulating every ' fiber of every cord with rubber. Simple demonstrations and tests Ulwtrated the! great advantage of this process, which supplies the extra strength to withstand the extra flexing strains ·o f low-pressure construction-one of the .reasons why : Firestone Gum-Dipped Tires are establishing such unheard-of mileage records. · Low , Cub Priees OLDFIELD TIRES 30x3 Fabric..... $5.85 30x3Yz Fabric..... 8.85 30x3Yz Cord ...... 7.36 29x4.40 Balloon.. 8.40 32x4 Cord ...... 13.40 31x5.26 Balloon.. 16.35 33x6.00 Balloon.. 18.35 I We learned whv the Firestone Balloon Tread gives extra safety, comfort and lone wear. ·we· were shown whv Firestone, from the verv begin.. ning, designed and continue to use the round Balloon Tread, minimizing "shoulder breaks", so · destructive to tires.
