'· Miss Cornelia Keith, daughter of ~M r. and Mrs. Carl Keith of Kenilworth will be one of the early autumn brides. Her marriage to Clean Larson of Appleton, Wis., will be solemnized Saturday, October 9, at 8:30 o'clock, at the Church of the Holy Comforter, Ken· ilworth. A reception will be held at the Keith residence at the close of the service. ~ C f t:: F ~ f ~ ~ A few years ago it would have been almost an impossibility for ·so many churches of so diverse denomination to agree upon a cooperative undertaking of this character. This joint campaign is a demonstration of the grOwth of the Wilmette community spirit which, after all, is only true neighborliness and mutual helpfulness for the common good. Dakota Game e This Saturday e Larg-e flood lights \Yere in stalled at Xorthwestern university's new million dollar stadium this wee-k as a crew of se n~ ral hundred workmen were placed on a night shift to rush the big grid plant to completion for the opening game of the season with South Dakota here Saturday. \Yith the east stands completed .workmen are now concentrating their attentions on getting the big west stands in readiness. Scats for nearly 25,000 spectators will he ready for the first game, it was announced this week by the contractors. . Football fans attending Saturday's game need have no fear of being forced to wade through mud and water in case of rainy weather. Tons of Cinders are being hauled to the big athletic field and placed on all approaches to the entrances. These walks arc being leveled off and rolled in preparation for the opening day crowds. Meanwhile Coach Thistlethwaite and his aids are bu sily engaged whipping his grid candidates into shape to meet the invasion of the South Dakota eleven. Coach Thistlethwaite plans to use <t number of players in the opening game in order to get a line on what material he has available for the forthcoming seaskon. He will be assisted in the backfield by a number of candidates ineluding Griffith, Schumacher, Holmer, Gustafson, halfbacks; Solheim, Rusch, B. Fox and Welch, quarterbacks, and Levison and Colin, fullbacks. A large number of ends will get ·a chance to perform. Fisher and Bovik, regulars from last year, will probably get a chance to show their wares. Gandy, Ritchie and Verdell, newcomers to the squad, are making strong bids for ·a flank assignment. Bob Johnson and R. Schuler are showing to advantage at tackle assignments.
