Prv:-icknt . toddard and other ll1l'111 1 l WILMETTE LIFE Contract Is Awarded for Installation of 368 Standards; Use Lantern Style At a meeting of the Kenilworth Board of Local Improvements, held Tuesday evening of this week, the contract for the consfruction of the new street lighting system to be installed by the village was awarded to the Electrical Contracting tompany of Chicago. The successful bid was $72,877.11, which 1 amount includes only the actual cost of construction. Engineering fees and other costs connected with the im1 provement will bring the total cost to at least $100,000, it was thought. ' Plans for the new system were drawn 1 llp early last fall, after the new system 1 installed by Wilmette had been completed and put into operation. A public hearing on the proposed improvement \\·as held and a referendum was ' taken in the vil.lage, resulting in an l CIVerwhelming majority in fayor of the improvement. Begin Work Soon The contract for the work of in stallation \\·ill be signed ten days after the date it was awarded and work will probably begin immediately, it was thought.
