WILMETTE LIFE, FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 5, 1924 NEW WORKER IN LOCAL PARISH Clara Mabel Nelson on Conrregational Staff The developing plans of the C011gregational church have made necessary the addition of a new parish assist ant and Miss Clara Mabel Nel$On has been called from the general secretaryship of the Y. W. C. A. of Saginaw, Mich, to this important field. To find the right person for the position the local committee has searched every available source of supply and has chosen Miss Nelson from a score of applicants because she seemed to have not only the training but also the peculiar personal qualities needed for this parish . Miss Nelson is a native of Wisconsin and grew up in a Congregational manse, her father, the Rev. George \'V. Nelson, having served many important cburcht!! in that northern state. Her collegiate work was taken at Northland college and her technical education at the Congre,ational Training School for Women m Chicago. The parish work is not new to .Miss Nelson for she has had a record of successful years as ·director of social and educational activities at the New First Congregational church. Chicago and at the First church at Marshall : town, Iowa. She is thoroughly acquainted with the methods of the various organizations of young people and adds to her qualifications as director of religious education an ability born of experience as Camp Fire Guardian, Leader of Girls and expert in Camp management.
