The warm weather has increased the patronage heavily, according to Beachmaster Francis Bradley. There have been more than 1,000 bathers each day since the beginning of the warm spell. During the week-day mornings, the beach is filled with children of all ages. Some of them arrive at the lake front two hours hefore the guards come on duty, and play in the sand. Every time an older person is seen coming down the stairs, the children jump up and run in the beach house to be the first in line to get to the dressing rooms. Others who are all dressed for the water and have their robes on, linger near the <ihore as they are prohibited from taking the plunge until the guards arrive. Imaginative Motorists Give Bathera a Thrill "'Nhere are the life guards, quick?" two excited motorists exclaimed at the Wilmette bathiug heach Monday evening ; "we saw two bodies floating near the shore," they continued. A number of bathers who were preparing to leave the beach overheard the excited appeal aud rushed to the indicated scene of horor, bent in getting a genuine thrill. The life guards hurried their boats out and plied their oar in the direction indicated by the overwrought motori ts. The crowd ncar the shore grew larger and larger, pedestrians and motorists near Sheridan road came down seeking the cau:,e of the unusual flurry . The guards in the boat sea rched and searched, near the pier, out on the lake. around the heacl1, but they could find no bodies. It was dusk now, and aided l>y the irregular pathway formed hy the 1110011, and the light thrown from the .. earchlights on the bathing beach, the guards continued their search, and the crowd along \M &hoY· dnw a.w ealistments. After a thorough combing of the neighborhood, the guards gave up the search, while the large crowd of stragglers on the shore, disappointed, left the beach.
