On this date the club _ will hold its opening reception at the Winnetka Woman's club, its customary headquarters. Mrs. WilJiam Schildgen, president of the league, will preside at the meeting and at the reception which will follow the program. At the reception the board of managers will receive. A dramatic reading, "Monsieur Beaucaire," will be given by Mrs. Esther Lehrbas Harcourt and music will be furnished by Mrs. Florence McLeod Royal. Mrs. Leo J. Hillman, chairman of the · house committee, and Mrs. Raymond Kloepfer, are hostesses for October. At the special invitation of .Mrs. R. H . McCoJI, the North Shore Catholic \\' oman's league witt be the guest of the Catholic Woman's League of Chicago at the Fine Arts building, 410 South Michigan avenue, on November 3. Mrs. McColl is president of the Chicago club. "Adolescent Psychology" will be discuss.e d by Mrs. Miriam L. Rooney on ~ovember 13 and the music wiit be given by the Bronson quartet. Novem~ her also is the month for the annual philanthropic card party, the date of which will be announced later. Sister Mary Loyola will speak on "\Vomcn in Shakespearean Drama" for the December 11 meeting. Mrs. Harrison Heater will present a musical program. "Home Budgeting" is to be considered on January 8, by Louella H. Ensworth. l\fiss Johannah Siragusa is announced for a musical program. On Frbruary 12, there will be a card party for the members and their friends. Mrs .. W. \V. Ramsey will talk on '"\Vomen in Government" at the meeting on March 12. Mrs. Sidney F. Beech is the music artist for the afternoon. In April the annual business meeting and election of officers will take place. The date for the annual luncheon in May will be announced later in the club season. Reception to New Membera and Musicale Launches New Seaaon Next Tuesday. The Neighbors club of Kenilworth will open its thirty-third season Tuesday, October 2, at 2 :30 o'clock, with a reception to the 11.ew members which will be followed by a musicale program. Mrs. Charles Bent is president of this organization, Mrs. Charles R. Erwin, its vice-president ; Mrs. Homer Johnson, second vice-president; Mrs. David DeCamp, recording secretary; Mrs. Charles Dubsky, corresponding secretary; Mrs. John V. Rathbone. treasurer. The program for next Tuesday will be given b:v Mrs. Phyllis Fergus Hoyt. pianist and con1poser, and Miss Anna Marie VanDuzer and Miss Anah Webb, violinists. Mrs. Edwin Bluthhardt. as chairman of the department of mu·3ic of the club, i~ bringing the se distinguished musicians to Kenilworth. Mrs. Hoyt, or, as she is known in the musical work, "Phyllis Fergus," is a composer whose works are widely played and enjoyed. She witt present a varied program of many of her most important comr>ositions. Mrs. Hoyt i!' president of the Chicago Musicians' club. The opening musicale is always . a much "looked-forward-to" day at the Neighbon and is always a very happy one for the officers of the dub. The . hard work attendant upon planning a year's program is at an end and the anxieties of publishing and mailing th e year bqok ·are over. Fdends and neighbors gather to!!ether after the summer months' vacationing and greet each other with a welcoming smile and a cheery word for the season and there is always a Yery happy fe~ling of bei ng at home again. Three club programs will he given during the month of October. White witt present Mrs. Ethel Colson Brazelton, a prominent newspaper writer and lecturer. who will speak on "Box Seats at Living." She is a very brilliant !'peaker. Her afternoon gives promi·3e of a most excellent proe-ram. On October 30, Mrs. Tom Dix, chairman of the home and education department; will bri-ng Karl Borders, assistant head resident at the Chicago Commons, who will give a talk on "What of the Brew of the Melting Pot." day night, in the school hall of the St. Francis Xavier school. The opening meeting of the clas·s in parliamentary procedure will be at the home of Mrs. F. J. Oelerich, 1201 Greenwood avenue. Mrs. Maurice Lieber, who has conducted classes for the club the past two years, will he in charge of the meetings beginnin~ with this first one on W ed_ nesday, October 3. Wednesday, October 3, i·s also the date of a benefit card party which will be given at th~ homt of Mrs. W endelin P. Seng, 401 Lake avenue, for the Sanctuary deoartment of the Woman's Catholic club. Miss May Rowen will be chairman of the benefit for the Sanctuary committee. Assisting her will be Mrs. Edward Schage-:, Mrs. Gerald Biehl. Mrs. Henry Schmidt, Mrs. Joseph O'Neill, and Mrs. J. Boylston. I I 4f ~ I Reception and Musicale to Open Woman,s Club The Woman's club of Wilmette will open its fall activities with a reception to its officers Wednesday, October 10, at 2 o'clock, which will be followed by a musicale given by the Symphonic trio and Miss Oli,·e O'Neil, soprano soloist. Miss O'Neil has a beautiful coloratura voice with a charming personality which makes her a very popular artist. The Symphonic trio is composed of George Bass, violinist ; Theodore Ratzer, 'cellist; Otto Albert Neuncke, pianist. Mr. Bass and . Mr. 'Ratzer are members of the Chicago Symphony orchestra and each is an artist on his own respective instrument. Photo of Mr~. Upon Active New Season Last Tuesday afternoon the Woman's Catholic club of Wilmette opened its year's activities with a meeting and social hour at the Wilmette Woman's club .. The entertainment provided for the afternoon consisted in readings of modern poetry given by Miss Jean Burns and a group of piano numbers played by Miss Valeria Walter. The meeting was conducted by Mrs. Arthur W. Boylston, president. The hostesses for the afternoon were the pa·.;t presidents of the club, Mrs. F. J. Oelerich, Mrs. Charles Barton, Mrs. W. T. Seng, Mrs. W. Ballard, VASSAR CLUB MEE'TING The North Shore Vassar club, of which Mrs. Duane Peterson of Winnetka is secretary, is to meet on October 10, at the home of Mrs. William S. Many members attended the bridge party. Last Wednesday, · the ex-service men's committee gave a birthday party aJ the Great Lakes hospital for all the men whose birthdays were in September. Mr.;.
