September 28. 1928 ( WILME'TTE LIFE 23 JUNIOR LIFE Howard and Stolp · Grid Teams Play A Scoreless Tie Wednesday,· September 19, SA Stolp had a scheduled football game with 8B Howard. This game was one of the tighest games I have ever played in. The teams were so evenly matched that neither team scored during the game. The first half things started with a bang. Bob Werden received the ball for Stolp. He made a slight gain. The half continued with first one team in possession of the hall and then the other. Many good plays were · pulled off but were always met with good opposition. Finally the half ended with Nevins of Howard making a fine tackle on Cecil Williams of Stolp. The second . half began when Howard received the kick-off made bv Bob White of SA. This half was very much like the fint. Once Stolp was within five yards of the goal but lost the ball when a pass was not completed. From then on neither of the teams wer( very dose to the goals The half ended with Howard in posses3ion of the ball in the middle of the field. It was decided by both teams not to play off the tie. Each team gave the other a rou$ing cheer as the gam ~ ended . -Chester H :lllson, R.'\ Stolp AN AMERICAN He came to America, the Land of the Free He came from Russia far over the ~ea.
