- On July 4th a Union Pacific Union coal train heading north to Wisconsin derailed and fell on he Shermer Road bridge. The bridge collapsed and killed Burton and Zorine Linder in their car below. Glenview village trustees have agreed to fund an escrow account to held business owners on Shermer Road pay rent while the destroyed rail bridge on Shermer Road is rebuilt during the next 18-20 months.
