Dr. Grote, 45, is director of curriculum and instructional services for the Evanston School District. He will begin work in Wilmette Jan. 1. Purpose Noted Purpose of the workshop is to acquaint caucus members and the public with the responsibilities and problems of school boards and to introduce Dr. Grote to delegates and the community. A question period will follow the talks. The caucus meets four times each winter to nominate candidates for the school board election in April. Donald Rumsfeld (R-13th) will return to his Glenview home this weekend, if Congress has adjourned, to begin active campaigning throughout the 13th District. On Sunday, he will be in Niles Township to take part in the dedication ceremonies of the new Niles Public Library, 6960 Oakton St. Later in the afternoon he will speak at a coffee in the home of Mrs. John Quinlan of Niles. Cohostesses will be Mrs. Robert Carrigan, Mrs. John Cavanaugh, and Mrs. John Shook, all of Niles. He will discuss national" issues that evening at a Niles meeting arranged by Miss Mary Saflarski for members of her political science class at Niles West High School, their parents, and members of the social studies department. Plans Talk His Monday schedule includes an address before the 13th District Women's Republican Club Board in the Northbrook home of Mrs. Marie Nebrick. At noon, he will speak to the Niles Township Women's Republican Club in Skokie. That evening, he will meet district voters at a coffee in the Evanston home of Mr. and Mrs. Alan Sager. Tuesday morning activities will include an address to the students of Sacred Heart of Mary High School, Rolling Meadows, and two coffees in the area, one co-ordinated by Mrs. Richard Urban of Rolling Meadows, and the other by Mrs. James Petersen and Mrs. Arthur Jicha, both of Palatine. Tuesday afternoon he will present flags that have been flown over the U.S. Capitol to the Virginia Lake School, Palatine, and to the Methode Manufacturing Corp., Rolling Meadows. That same day, he will appear at the Wilmette Jaycee meeting before another speaking engagement at an evening meeting of the Glenview Community Church Women. The GOP legislator will report on the accomplishments of the 89th Congress. Will Address Leagues On Wednesday, the Glenview Republican will speak before a joint meeting of the Leagues of Women Voters of Evanston, Glenco'e, Northbrook, Wilmette, Winnetka, and Skokie in the Unitarian Church, Ridge Av. and Greenwood St., Evanston. Wednesday night, he will attend a 50th Ward meeting in Hyatt House, Lincolnwood. The 50th Ward has been part of the 13th District for the last four years, but will become parts of other Illinois congressional districts Jan. 1 under the new reapportionment plan. Next Thursday, Cong. Rumsfeld is scheduled to be the featured guest at a coffee meeting at 3700 Dundee Rd., Northbrook. The morning event is being co-ordinated by Raymond Morley of Northbrook. School Invites 800 Architects Hundreds of area architects are expected to join North Shore residents at Sunday's New Trier High School West open house from 2 to 5 p.m. School officials said more than 800 invitations have gone out to the members of the Chicago chapter of the American Institute of Architects. Members of the Society of Architectural Historians also are expected. A public slide talk on the Northfield complex's planning will be given a t ' 3 p.m. in the auditorium by Charles W. Brubaker, partner in charge of design for the Perkins and Will Partnership, which designed the school. An estimated 6,000 persons attended last Sunday's open house, about three times more than the number at the first open house. This Sunday's event is the final one. O c t o b e r 20, 1966 Plan Open House At Edens Center An open house will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. tomorrow at the newly completed Edens Executive Center building in Wilmette. Located at 3201 Old Glenview Rd., immediately west of Edens Expressway, the three-story building is the largest office facility in Wilmette and one of the largest on the North Shore. The $1.4-million structure, the first of five that eventually will be built on the site, was completed early this year and now is situated on landscaped grounds. It was built by Professional Centers Building Corp., partly owned by Tec-Search, Inc., a city planning and consulting firm which occupies most of the building's garden level. Other firms which have rented office space include Packaging Corp. of America, Johnson and Johnson, Guard Corp., and John Marshall Ziv, communications consultants. Legion District 7 Will Get Citation From Press Unit The American Legion's 7th district, which includes the North Shore area, will receive a citation of appreciation today from the American Veterans Press Association of Chicago at an awards pr6gram in the Conrad Hilton Hotel. The award is being given in appreciation for the district's contributions to the American Veterans Press Association's Vietnam project. John J. Johnson of 2125 Schiller Av., Wilmette, district commander, will be given the award at the association's meeting at 8 tonight. During the past year, the association has sent 539 20-pound boxes of paperback books, magazines, playing cards, games, puzzles, candy, chewing gum, and presweetened soft drink mixes to American servicemen in Vietnam. II Recreation Unit, PTA to Meet The Wilmette Recreation Board will hold its semiannual joint meeting Monday night with representatives of two village PTA groups. Board members and PTA recreation chairmen from Wilmette and Avoca school districts will discuss the recreation programs conducted by the board in or on facilities owned by the schools. The joint session will follow a brief board business meeting at 7:30 p.m. At this time the recreation department's financial matters will be discussed, and Supt. Tom Hall will report on the progress of the fall and winter programs which are beginning this week and next.
