April 28, 1903

Dear Sir

Yours of the 17th instant, addressed to Mr. Carnegie, has been referred to the writer as Mr. Carnegie and his Secretary have gone abroad for the summer.

Mr. Carnegie would not consent to any portion of the Library Building being set apart for municipal purposes, nor to a special building for such purposes to be erected in such close proximity as to interfere with light and air for the Library Building.

Please address further correspondence to the undersigned

Yours truly

R. H. Franks
