Cole, Virginia Anne (née Ford) (Died)

Cole, Ginny Virginia Anne Cole (nee Ford), 79, of Evanston, died peacefully among her family after a long illness on October 5, 2011. Born in Chicago, she was educated at Longwood Academy and Loyola University (B.S. 1956). During a junior year abroad in Vienna, Austria, she met Douglas Cole of New York, whom she married in 1957 at Notre Dame, IN. They raised their four childrenDavid, Stephen, Karen, and Kristinin Connecticut and, after 1969, in Evanston. Ginny earned her Master's degree in Reading Education in 1968, and taught at the Dewey School in Evanston for twenty years. After her early retirement, she served as part-time teacher and assistant librarian at St. Athanasius School. She was an active member of the League of Women Voters, and Northwestern's University Circle, Her later years were saddened by the death of her son Stephen in an airplane accident in 2004. but gladdened by the happy times spent with her eight grandchildren, Dylan, Cole, Aidan, Jasper, Sarah, Leo, Warren and Paris.
