- Dr. McElveen, Congregational Minister, was on a speaking tour for 3 weeks in California. He spoke in: San Fransisco, Berkeley, Oakland, Palo Alto, Los Angeles, Clermont, Ontario, Long Beach, Santa Ana, Orange, Pasadena, Riverside and Redlands. At the University of California, Berkley, he gave the Earle lectures. He lectured at Leland Standford University in Palo Alto. He lectured on Tolstoy at Pomona College in Clarmont. At Pomona, he met Judge Neeley, formerly of Evanston, who is now a professor. Dr. McElveen addressed the Men's Club of the church in Ontario; the minister is Rev. Jean Loba. Dr. McElveen addressed church and student audiences in Long Beach and Santa Ana. He addressed the Congregational Club of southern Cal., the Congregational Brotherhoods, and preached to the Congregational Church in Los Angeles. He said that half of the audience was composed of Evanstonians or ex-Evanstonnians. William S. Mason was the minister's host in Pasadena. This was in the home of Dr. Bragdon of Evanston.
