- The Evanston Fire Department elected fire fighter, Edward Mersch, to represent them at a meeting of the Illinois Fireman's Association which met in Ottawa, Jan., 14-17. The Association is composed of fire departments in over 200 cities in the state. The primary purpose of the organization is to provide accident insurance. It was instrumental in having the state legislature pass a current law which ensures that part of the insurance premiums goes to the fireman's pension fund.
