He is survived by his children, Cathy (Dr. Jeffrey) Fireman of Deerfield, Illinois and David (Dr. Susan Mahler) Rosenthal of Adams, Massachusetts; as well as his cherished grandchildren Noah and Lexi Fireman, and Sharon, Douglas, Benjamin, and Isabel Rosenthal. He was the fond brother and brother-in-law to Janet and Richard Rosenberg, and Helene and Robert Gerstein, and the cherished uncle and cousin to many. He was the special companion of Elaine Ritz Schayer during the last years of his life. Jimmy was the "go to" guy for many years in every job he worked. After he "retired" from the printing business, he spent his summers rising at 3:30 AM to open Sunset Valley Golf Course during the summer and working late at the Sunset Park Ice Skating Rink in the winter. In his spare time, he volunteered in various departments at Highland Park Hospital. Jimmy was Jimmy; and everyone loved him for that. Services were held on Tuesday, May 31st at 12:15 PM at Shalom Memorial Funeral Home, 1700 W. Rand Road, Arlington Heights. Interment Shalom Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society , 225 N. Michigan Avenue, Suite 1210, Chicago, Illinois 60601 (www.cancer.org) or the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
